In his first years of college Meloni had a keen interest in the field of acting. After that, he attended his home institution, the University of Colorado at Boulder. While he has appeared in movies and in television shows, it is the characters portrayed on small screens that has earned him fame. His ability to play characters in both legal and non-legal settings is a draw for viewers. When he first appeared on television, for his debut project, he played an infamous serial killer.
